Applications

Due to the decommissioning of NASAs Manned Flight Program, no further Student Applications will be accepted after October 1, 2010.

To apply to this rotation please follow the steps listed below.

  1. Complete the form that applies to you with personal information - US citizen or foreign national.
  2. A current curriculum vita, which should include:
    1. Medical school - name, year entered, graduation date
    2. Residency (if applicable) - name of program, year entered, graduation date
    3. Undergraduate education - name of university, address, degree, major and graduation date
    4. Graduate education (if applicable) - name of graduate school, address, degree, major, and graduation date.
    5. Work and research experience
    6. Publications
    7. Community service
    8. Hobbies and interests
  3. An essay in the form of a letter, at least one page in length stating the reasons you want to participate in this elective rotation and what your future goals and career plans are in relation to the elective.
  4. An official copy of your medical school transcript.
  5. A letter of recommendation with a focus on describing your interpersonal skills.
  6. A letter from your University Dean, Program Director or Residency advisor that states you are in good academic standing and that your rotation has been approved.

This information must be received

  • US citizens - 4-6 months prior to a selected rotation date.
  • Foreign National's - at least 9 months prior to a selected rotation date

To determine if there is an opening in our schedule for you, please send an email to the contact.

All materials submitted must be complete and accurate. Your personal information will be submitted to the security office for background checks. If the information is not accurate your clearance may be denied. If any information changes prior to the rotation you must notify of us as soon as possible.

If for any reason the security office denies you a security clearance you will not be able to participate in the program and will need to make alternate plans for the month you were considering a rotation with us.

Once your application is received, all of the components will be reviewed. At least three months before your intended rotation month or sooner you will be notified of your status. Once accepted a letter outlining your status and the rotation will be sent to your University or program.

A note for non-United States Citizens - we value each of you and wish we could meet the educational needs of each you, however, because we are a secure United States Government facility we are very limited to the number of foreign nationals we can admit each year to the program. Please don't be discouraged from contacting the program since they may have some information to assist you with some aerospace related education opportunities.
